Compost/Garden System

a portable, transformable garden system.

the top level houses potted plants, seedlings, tools, watering cans, etc. the bottom level stores two compost bins, one with worms and one without.

the top level is set into eight tubes and can be easily lifted apart so the plants can chill in the sun while the worms stay safely in the shade.

the whole system is on wheels so during the summer months it can be far away from the home to avoid unpleasant smells and pests, and during the winter it can be brought closer to the house or inside.

in the winter, a green house will be set into drilled holes on the top layer. holes drilled in the bed of the garden level will allow the heat from the compost to keep the garden warm.

Looking Up

For this piece I preformed a series of walks in which I focused primarily on "looking up"
I observed the translucent layering of colors and patterns created by different trees.
My response was to hand draw multiple repeats based on different species of trees.
The colors and patterns are representational of those I observed
The drawings were scanned, digitally colored, and layered.
The large compositions were printed digitally on rayon which is made from tree fibers.
The two pieces of cloth were installed above heads.
To encourage the viewer to "look up"
